Weddings at Christ Church

Congratulations if you are newly engaged and thinking of marrying at Christ Church.

Here is what to do:

1) Check you are eligible to marry at Christ Church. It is easiest to follow the instructions on the Church of England Website

2) Get it booked with us. We will need to meet with you both. You can either come to Christ Church Centre on Mondays between 9.15 and 1.15 and book with our Administrator or alternatively come along on a Sunday morning (our service is 10am - 11am and then we are in the Centre for a coffee afterwards). Or phone to make alternative arrangements.

3) Once you have booked in we will ask for a deposit of £100. The outstanding balance will need to be paid in full a month prior to the wedding. In 2025 the complete fee is £649.

4) If you do not live in our parish there is a legal requirement to also have your Banns read by your parish church. This is at a cost of £46 in 2025, made payable to your parish church.

5) Once you have registered for a marriage at Christ Church, we will invite you to attend a Marriage Preparation course, and we will meet with you privately to plan your ceremony. We are looking forward to supporting you every step of your married lives together.

5) Another wedding option may be that you arrange to marry elsewhere. If that is the case we would love to discuss with you a wedding blessing service. We also offer Wedding Blessings to couples who have been married for a number of years.
